Recently celebrating her 111th birthday, Grace Jones, of England, known to friends as "Amazing Grace," credits her longevity to a nightly tot of Scotch whisky and not worrying.
"I never worry if anything happens; I just let it go over. Don't worry - it keeps you younger," she said, according to BBC News.
Jones earned the nickname "Amazing Grace" as a tribute to still having her wits about her and good health at over a century old. In addition to her preferred nightcap and optimistic outlook on life, Jones said she enjoys dancing, parties and meeting people, BBC News noted.
"Some people are so miserable aren't they? I can't understand them. They'll say, 'oh dear, I'll just stay home,' but I like to enjoy myself," Jones said, according to BBC News.
Jones celebrated her 111th birthday with a spate of back-to-back parties. When her 79-year-old daughter, Deidre McCarthy, called to see how her mother was feeling after all the tiring festivities, Jones said she was, "full of beans," Inside Edition noted.
Before she was married, Jones had her own millinery business and still has an affinity for fashion.
"She always looks nice no matter when you go over," McCarthy said, according to Inside Edition. "She loves beautiful things."
Despite losing her husband 31 years ago, Jones maintained a lust for life and McCarthy, her only child, believes it is her mother’s outlook and positive attitude that have carried her through.
"Amazing Grace" is the sixth oldest person in the United Kingdom, and received her eighth personal birthday card from the Queen of England on her 111th birthday, BBC News said.
