Longtime GOP strategist and Hispanic campaign leader Ana Navarro has publicly stated that she voted by absentee ballot for Hillary Clinton ahead of Tuesday’s election.

In an op-ed piece for CNN, Navarro stated that she wrestled with the decision for weeks, but decided to vote for Clinton, but really against Donald Trump because of his views on immigration, mocking of a disabled person, and treatment of women, among other reasons.

“I did it without joy or enthusiasm,” Navarro wrote for CNN. “I did it out of civic duty and love for our country.”

Navarro went on in the piece to give a litany of reasons why she voted against Donald Trump. Navarro is an immigrant and felt that Trump denigrated all immigrants throughout his campaign. She feared for a friend and for her cab driver, that they would be deported by Trump and that their families would be broken up as a result.

The CNN commentator was also deeply offended by Trump’s comment that he didn’t consider John McCain a war hero. Navarro worked closely on McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign as the national Hispanic campaign chairwoman, CNN reported.

In addition, Navarro bristled at Trump’s treatment of women including Megyn Kelly, Rosie O’Donnell, Carly Fiorina, and Heidi Cruz. She mentioned the tape where Trump boasted about grabbing and kissing women who may not have welcomed his advances, and stated that “sexual assault is no laughing matter. It is a crime.”

Navarro is one of several prominent Republicans who have said they might not or would not vote for Trump, including former nominees John Kasich and Jeb Bush, TV and radio host Glenn Beck, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, according to The Atlantic.
