A Georgia city councilman was arrested for allegedly stealing a beef filet tenderloin from a local grocer. Clifford Henry Jiles, who is a member of the Franklin city council, was shopping at a Piggly Wiggly grocery store last Sunday when he switched the price tag of a beef filet, which retailed for over $83, with a $12 pork tenderloin, Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Nelly Miles confirmed with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
A customer reportedly noticed that the price tags had been swapped and police were notified. Jiles, 54, was arrested the following day, after the case was turned over to the GBI for involving an elected official. Jiles was charged with theft by deception and theft by shoplifting.
The incident comes shortly after Rockwall city councilman, Patrick Trowbridge, was charged on three counts of possession of child pornography, after it was alleged that he had been sending child pornography on a messaging app, KXAS reported.
