Backers Want Bush to Get Just Due on bin Laden

Supporters of former President George W. Bush are concerned that he’s not getting his fair share of credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden, as some Democratic political operatives already are planning ways in which all the credit can be claimed for President Barack Obama, Politico reports.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that when Obama took office, “he made sure that we would revitalize our focus on Osama bin Laden and the hunt for him.”

But a former top intelligence officer told Politico that Bush regularly asked him about bin Laden during Thursday morning discussions of CIA operations.

“He was very focused on it — this was always a top priority,” the official said.
