Houston Astros right-fielder George Springer hit a foul ball that landed in a deep fryer at a funnel cake stand at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday. It came back out warm and greasy.
Nobody was hurt by the wayward foul, but the concession stand was shut down for the remainder of the game,
ESPN reported.
Astros sideline reporter Julia Morales on
MLB.com tracked down the ball with help from Twitter users at the stadium and said it was still warm and smelled like grease.
The Astros beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 in 13 innings with Springer going 3-for-4 with two walks.
"We’d be shocked if Minute Maid doesn’t figure out a way to capitalize on this selling deep fried Springer balls,"
CBS Houston reported.
Sure enough, on Wednesday, the Astros tweeted about a new concession stand treat: Spring Splash Funnel Cakes.
Twitter users commented on the deep-fried foul.
