Carleen Donovan, a publicist for his daughter, confirmed the news Wednesday, The Associated Press reported.

The veteran character actor's credits alongside Eastwood include "High Plains Drifter," "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot," "Every Which Way But Loose," and its sequel, and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," among others.

He received a Golden Globe nomination for the television series "Flo," and also appeared in shows including "Murder She Wrote," "The A-Team," and "Mission: Impossible."
