Genie Bouchard is saying yes to a second date with a Twitter fan who won the chance to go on a first date with the tennis star thanks to a Super Bowl bet.
Bouchard and John Goehrke, a 20-year-old student at the University of Missouri, went on a date to a Brooklyn Nets game in New York on Wednesday night.
As they were leaving, the pair were approached by TMZ.
“Do you guys think there’ll be a second date?” the TMZ cameraman asked.
“For sure,” Bouchard responded.
“He picked me up at my hotel, like a gentleman,” Bouchard told TMZ. “He got me a nice little gift.”
“He’s normal,” she added about Goehrke, relieved the internet date didn't turn out badly. “He’s a normal man. ... It’s complete luck. I’m so lucky.”
During the Super Bowl, Bouchard took to Twitter to say she knew the Atlanta Falcons were going to come out on top against the New England Patriots. Goehrke felt differently and responded to Bouchard’s tweet with, “if patriots win we go on a date?”
“Sure,” Bouchard responded.
That Twitter bet became a reality for Goehrke after the Patriots made a historic comeback to win Super Bowl 51 in overtime.
The date came on the same day Bouchard, the No. 44 tennis player in the world, appeared on a recent Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
Despite a successful first date, Bouchard posted a picture on Instagram last month that would lead the average person to believe that she is already in a relationship.
