Oil and gas prices are rising much faster than analysts expected this year, a CNBC report found. And if you think you are paying a lot to fill up your car, be thankful you’re not living in Hong Kong. That’s because a gallon of gas goes for more than $8 there!
Motorists in the U.S. have felt gas price hikes this year and Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.com, admitted that the latest rising costs have "felt worse than prior years."
An analysis of countries with the most expensive gas in the world, however, found that the U.S. is nowhere near the top. Hong Kong that leads that list, 24/7 Wall St. reported.
As of July 29, a gallon of gas in Hong Kong costs $8.41, which is more than a dollar higher than the next highest priced places, Norway and Iceland, where the price per-gallon of gas costs $7.389and $7.37, respectively.
Fourth on the list of nations with the highest gas price is Monaco, where the cost of a gallon is $7.26, while Barbados rounded out the top five with the cost of a gallon coming to $7.25.
Based on data released by GlobalPetrolPrices, here are the top 10 countries where gas is the most expensive:
