It's possible Elsa could have a girlfriend in the upcoming "Frozen" sequel.
In a recent interview, co-director Jennifer Lee didn't rule out the possibility, telling HuffPost, “I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film — that it’s creating dialogue, that Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people. It means the world to us that we’re part of these conversations.”
“Where we’re going with it, we have tons of conversations about it, and we’re really conscientious about these things,” Lee added. “For me ... Elsa’s every day telling me where she needs to go, and she’ll continue to tell us. I always write from character-out, and where Elsa is and what Elsa’s doing in her life, she’s telling me every day. We’ll see where we go.”
Idina Menzel, who voices the ice queen character, has said on social media she thinks it would be “great” if Elsa had a girlfriend.
Some fans on social media have called for Elsa to become a gay character in the sequel and have a female love interest.
Others have said they think a lesbian storyline would confuse children and take away from the fact that Elsa is one Disney princess who has not needed a prince to complete her.
