Say hello to the French Fry Burger. Burger King's new concoction, a beef patty topped with four french fries, will be sold for just $1.
The Miami-based fast-food chain has announced the new 360-calorie sandwich will be
available Sept. 1 through the fall, according to The Associated Press.
The French Fry Burger comes as competition kicks into high gear. The McDonald’s Dollar Menu includes a Grilled Onion Cheddar Burger and a McDouble, prompting Burger King and Wendy’s to focus on value, too. Burger King now offers a Junior Whopper for $1.29, along with any two sandwiches for a total of $5.

Burger King’s new burger will be offered a little more than a week before
McDonald’s rolls out its new "Mighty Wings" on Sept. 9.
Reaction from customers was generally positive in social media circles.
“Honestly, people just thought of this now?” tweeted Caroline Nguyen, aka @Car0love.
“Burger King stepping up its value menu wars with $1 'French Fry Burger' in bid to drum up sales (and heart attacks),” tweeted @KALLAIRD.
“Awesome!!!” tweeted James Wimmer, aka @Hurmoth.
Chris Morran,
writing for the Consumerist website, wasn’t impressed with the move. “With only 4 fries used to top each burger, it’s not like customers won’t also continue ordering a side of fries with their burgers,” he said. “Which just brings up the question of why they would order a French Fry Burger in the first place.”
Fast-food restaurants are doing what they can to reverse the trend of declining or stagnating profits. The AP noted that Burger King says its sales at North American restaurants opened within the past year have slipped 0.5 percent. Wendy’s is reporting a rise of just 0.4 percent. McDonalds says profits have gone up 1 percent at its restaurants in the U.S.
Chipotle, on the other hand, has seen its sales rise 3.4 percent during the same period. And Starbucks reported a 9 percent increase.
