Fred Armisen Will Be Bandleader for Seth Meyers' 'Late Night'

Seth Meyers, the new host of "Late Night," will be joined on the show by his former "SNL" buddy Fred Armisen, who will lead the in-house 8G Band to provide the show’s music.

Armisen, who stars on “Portlandia,” formerly drummed for punk rockers Trenchmouth and played in the background for The Blue Man Group in the mid-'90s.

“Fred will curate and lead the band, and continue to run it even when he's off shooting Portlandia," Meyers tweeted. He also tweeted this photo of the band:

“Anyone who's paid attention to his career knows that he's managed to fit music into as many of his comedic moments as possible,” Vulture said of Armisen. They also highlighted some of Armisen’s "Saturday Night Live" work, including the Blue Jean Committee and the Bjelland Brothers.

The Hollywood Reporter said Meyers’ “Late Night” won’t feature quite as much music as Jimmy Fallon's did.

Armisen appeared on Fallon’s show and had a drum-off with the popular Questlove, where he proved his drumming skill.
