French soldiers stopped an armed robbery at a McDonald's restaurant Sunday in Ecole-Valentin in eastern France.

Two criminals bit off more than they could chew when they burst into the restaurant, fired a warning shot, and began raiding the tills, The Independent reported. It just so happened 11 soldiers from an elite military unit were having lunch at the time.

The soldiers, trained in dealing with hostage situations, warned employees not to move and followed the criminals out into the parking lot, where one fell and was quickly captured and the other was shot in the abdomen, The Independent said. Police took both suspects into custody.

About 40 customers were at the restaurant at the time, the Daily Mail reported. To minimize the danger, the soldiers waited until the suspects headed for the exit before they made a move. One of the suspects had grabbed nearly 2,000 euro in cash.

The suspects are in the hospital and face charges of armed robbery and violence, according to Agence France‑Presse.

Twitter users were lovin' how justice was served.
