Fox News is the most trusted name in television news, while MSNBC is the least trusted, a new poll revealed this week.
When asked, "Whose news coverage do you trust the most: NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, MSNBC, CNN, or Fox News?" 29 percent chose the network of Bill O'Reilly, Megyn Kelly, and Greg Gutfeld, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll.
CNN was named the second most trustworthy with 22 percent, while CBS and NBC took 10 percent each. Trailing in last place were ABC and MSNBC with a scant 8 and 7 percent saying they trust it the most.
Notably, local news stations ranked highly along with Fox News when pollsters asked about the level of trust they have in each institution.
When asked, "Do you trust the journalistic coverage provided by local television news," 19 percent of voters said "a great deal" while 52 percent said "somewhat." When asked the same of Fox News, 19 percent said they trust the cable news station "a great deal" and 35 percent said they trust it "somewhat."
In another part of the survey, researchers asked who should replace Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show" after he retires: Tina Fey, Chelsea Handler, John Oliver, Craig Ferguson, Brian Williams, or Dennis Miller?
The vast majority (37 percent) said they don't know, but "30 Rock" star Tina Fey took the lead with 19 percent, while Dennis Miller trailed just behind with 16 percent.
