Five people – two women and three children – have been found dead in New Mexico this week after they were reported missing from Albuquerque last week.
Sisters Vanessa George, 25, and Leticia George, 20, and their children, ranging in ages from 1 to 4, were reported missing, and authorities were concerned about possible foul play, the Albuquerque Journal reported.
Leticia George's body was found with a white pickup truck at the end of a double-track dirt road north of the Jemez Canyon Dam on Sunday, the newspaper reported. The bodies of two young children were found nearby the next day.
On Tuesday, the body believed to be Vanessa George was found along with the body of a child in a rugged area of the Santa Ana Pueblo, the Journal reported.
"Foul play by another party is not suspected at this time," FBI spokesman Frank Fisher told the newspaper, adding that the incident was "still under investigation."
Vanessa George had expressed concern for her safety and her children, a cousin told KOB-TV. Her estranged boyfriend and father of her children Murphy Becenti had been arrested but he was not a suspect in her death, according to the television station.
KOB-TV said that the causes of death for all five are pending autopsies.
Family friend Darren Jim told KOB-TV that he worked with the sister's father for more than 14 years and they grew up together in Red Valley. Jim said the deaths have been difficult to accept.
"I talked to him, and he sounded like he was kind of strong, though," Jim told KOB-TV. "And I just told him that if he needed anything that we were here for him and that we're always in our thoughts and prayers."
A relative has started to GoFundMe account to help pay for expenses.
