Flexball Ad During Patriots Presser on Footballs Is Kinda Perfect

By    |   Thursday, 22 January 2015 05:47 PM EST

Gillette’s Flexball is getting a lot of publicity after an ad for the shaving razor popped up behind Patriots coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady as they talked about the NFL investigation into underinflated footballs used during the Patriots-Colts AFC championship game.

The New England Patriots won the game and will face off against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, but many are up in arms over the Patriots win after it was determined that the footballs used earlier this week weren't inflated properly.

During Belichick's news conference where the Flexball ad popped up, he said he had no knowledge of the underinflated footballs.

The juxtaposition of the ad with the subject matter, though, can only go right for Gillette.

The NFL is investigating whether the Patriots knew that 11 out of 12 of the team’s footballs were underinflated. The team could be fined $25,000, or if NFL officials determine the offense was “egregious,” the team could lose a draft pick.

Whatever the NFL determines, the Internet is having fun with the Flexball hashtag, which was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter for a time Thursday.
