Ferrari FXX K Supercar Revealed, Expected to Cost More Than $2M

The Ferrari FXX K, a 1,050-horsepower hybrid prototype car, is set to debut next weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari will build only a few dozen of the model, which might cost more than $2 million, for use only on tracks or at events organized by the manufacturer, Bloomberg reported.

The FXX K combines a 860-horsepower V12 engine with a 190 horsepower electric engine.

In an article for the New York Daily News, Nick Kurczewski said “nothing this side of an F-22 fighter jet has the visual presence of this Ferrari.”

The car features a moveable rear spoiler, two towering tailfins, a flat underfloor, and massive rear diffuser.

The FXX K is based on the LaFerrari hypercar. Like others in Ferrari’s XX program, the FXX K isn’t street legal and the company will maintain the cars on owners’ behalf, The Verge reported.

Car and Driver described the Ferrari FXX K as “something beyond a racing machine. This is a no-holds-barred multimillion-dollar plaything.”

Ferrari spread the word about its new car in a Tweet on Wednesday.

Ferrari maintains exclusivity by producing only about 7,000 cars a year. Fiat Chrysler, Ferrari’s parent company, plans to spin off Ferrari next year to help raise about $5 billion to counter mounting debt, Bloomberg said.

Twitter users shared awe and sarcasm.
