Female DNA on Bomb Fuels Conspiracy Theories at #FreeJahar

News that the FBI found female DNA on fragments of one of the bombs used in the Boston Marathon attack has fueled a new round of conspiracy theories on Twitter, as #FreeJahar truthers call for the release of suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

News broke Monday that officials had recovered genetic material belonging to a female on fragments of one of the pressure cooker bombs, and Twitter users immediately took that to mean that the Tsarnaev brothers must be innocent.

Although investigators found traces of female DNA, it doesn’t necessarily prove that a third female suspect was involved in the attacks, despite Twitter users' voracity. They are ignoring very plausible possibilities, like the fact that that the DNA could have come from a female store clerk who sold the pressure cookers, any of the items placed inside it, or the remote controls used to detonate them. A strand of hair from a marathon spectator could have gotten on the explosive sometime during or after detonation.

ATTN #freejahar conspiracy idiots: the presence of female DNA on the bomb fragments doesn't mean Jahar didn't do it.
