The "Fearless Girl" statue will stay put through February 2018 facing off with the Wall Street "Charging Bull" after initially having just a weeklong permit.

"In her short time here, the Fearless Girl has fueled powerful conversations about women in leadership and inspired so many," Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement Sunday, the New York Daily News reported. "Now, she'll be asserting herself and affirming her strength even after her temporary permit expires — a fitting path for a girl who refuses to quit."

The extension comes after Public Advocate Letitia James advocated for the statue to remain on the Financial District permanently, citing the message it represents: a message of inclusion and diversity in a corporate world that has a "huge gender gap."

“The importance of empowering women is not temporary, and Fearless Girl must become a permanent fixture in our city as a reminder to all women that no dream is too big and no ceiling is too high,” James said, according to CBS News.

“It should be permanent. It’s about women’s leadership and the lack of it in the financial world,” said Kate Kearney, a 42-year-old Long Island resident, told the Daily News. “I have two daughters. Having a young girl standing up to the big bull of Wall Street is awesome. It says, ‘Hey, girls, you can be anything.’”

The statue that’s quickly become a tourist attraction in New York was installed just before International Women’s Day to bring attention to the gender diversity issue, specifically among those in leadership positions in the corporate world.
