'Fashion Police' Hiatus Follows Exit by Osbourne, Then Griffin

The E! Network's hit show "Fashion Police" has been put on extended hiatus following the departure of Kelly Osbourne and then comedian Kathy Griffin, who replaced the late Joan Rivers on the 5-year-old franchise this year.

"With the benefit of hindsight, we definitely brought it back too soon," said Frances Berwick, NBCUniversal Lifestyle Networks Group president, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Griffin's departure, announced on Twitter, followed on the heels of Kelly Osbourne's, leaving Giuliana Rancic and new addition Brad Goreski holding down the panel. In total, the stand-up comic helped host seven of the 10 episodes E! had planned for the current season of the show.

The remaining three episodes will be canceled while execs and producers retool the show.

In her departure letter, Griffin echoed a growing sentiment of the show's critics: that it's too mean, and promotes an unhealthy approach to body image.

In related E! news, the network announced earlier this month that RuPaul, Dr. Terry Dubrow, and Sandra Vergara will host a new pop culture roundtable series titled "Good Work," focusing on plastic surgery in Hollywood.
