Nicole Weider was 17 when she shot to fame as a Victoria's Secret model, but she soon realized the industry was not all that it seemed. Feeling "objectified," she quit the business to follow her faith and inspire others through various projects and campaigns.
"I realized the modeling industry wasn't all it's cracked up to be. I was really objectified," Weider told "Fox & Friends" Monday. "It was hurting my self-esteem and it was harmful, and so I realized I wanted more for my life and I didn't just want to focus on my outer appearance."
The ex-Victoria's Secret model said she was at a low point when a friend told her about Jesus and how God had a plan for her.
"She said that I can use my past as a testimony for my future," Weider said in an interview with Faithwire. "She really was planting the seeds of God’s love and hope in my heart."
She went on to found Project Inspired, a massive online community for teenage girls, and then turned her attention to acting and producing.
Weider's most recent project is "Catching Faith 2," a film that tells the story of a family encountering a series of obstacles that turns to its faith for strength. It was released last week in Walmart.
"I feel like the country needs a lot more wholesome messages, good old-fashioned family values because there are so many harmful movies that are not inspiring," Weider told "Fox & Friends" while discussing the film. "And so I feel like the country is hungry for quality content that they can watch with the whole family."
