Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Tuesday to recruit a few good computer science experts.
Zuckerberg’s CMU visit completes his two-day East Coast recruiting trip, according to the
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He said it was his first trip to Pittsburgh.
On Monday, Zuckerberg visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and his alma mater, Harvard. He spoke to about 900 Carnegie Mellon students and staff in a Facebook recruiting meeting that was closed to the media..
The social networking giant employs 57 Carnegie Mellon alumni, as well as several interns, said
Randy Bryant, dean and university professor at the CMU School of Computer Science.
“They really like our students,” Bryant said. “They're very selective. They put interviewees through the ropes.”
Zuckerberg said CMU is “at the top of the list” when deciding where to recruit, and CMU graduates fit in well at Facebook.
"Facebook looks for entrepreneurs," Zuckerberg said, "people trying to have a big impact on the world."
He said CMU students graduate with excellent technical skills and a “really good work ethic.”
