Facebook reportedly is in talks with international soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for a reality show based on his life that could give the Portuguese player $10 million for the 13-episode web series.
Not that he needs the money. In June, Ronaldo was named No. 3 on the Forbes annual list of the 100 highest-paid athletes.
Multiple sources told Variety that the Ronaldo series would appear on the social media giant's Facebook Watch platform which shows television-style content. The Creative Artists Agency reportedly is packaging the series.
The docu-series would be produced by Matador Content and Religion of Sports, a sports-related firm founded by Gotham Chopra, Michael Strahan, Tom Brady and production company Dirty Robber, Variety said.
Word of the new show came just after Ronaldo's squad was booted from the World Cup by Uruguay 2-1 in the Round of 16 a little more than a week ago, CNN reported.
Regardless of the loss, Ronaldo is the most popular sports figure on Facebook already, with more than 120 million followers around the world, Variety said. In fact, his studio wiip, which he started with Paul Lee, has created a scripted series that was recently ordered by Facebook Watch.
Sources said the Ronaldo series would likely look like the Brady series "Tom vs. Time," which documented the New England Patriots' record-setting quarterback on and off the field last season and appeared on Facebook Watch before this past season's Super Bowl.
That series has been viewed nearly 52 million times on Facebook.
