All eyes were on Pakistani politician Shaukat Yousafzai's pink kitty ears during his press conference last week as a staffer behind the camera accidentally activated a filter on the social media live stream,Vox reported.
The broadcast of Yousafzai speaking with reporters after a cabinet meeting appeared on Yousafzai's Tehreek-e-Insaf party's official Facebook page. It was later removed, but social media lit up in response to the mishap. Screen grabs of the live stream were widely circulated and the general consensus is that it was... "cute."
"So this happened today when PTI's SM team forgot to turn off the cat filter while live streaming a press conference on Facebook. @SAYousafzaiPTI looks kinda cute," tweeted political commentator Ahsan Hamid Durrani.
"According to KP government’s social media team we now have a cat in the cabinet #Filter" journalist Mansoor Ali Khan posted in another tweet.
"Lol these are the kinds of problems politicians should have!" @whyfullyblind commented on Twitter.
"Any political news needs to be done this way!!" added @nancy_mcwatters.
The party released a statement explaining that the incident was a "human error" made by one of its volunteers, adding that "necessary action" will be taken to avoid a repeat in the future.
Yousafzai made light of the situation in an interview with Agence France-Presse, noting that two other officials sitting alongside him "were also hit the cat filter," CNN noted.
