Facebook removed a post from Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s page criticizing President Barack Obama’s new immigration decision, reports the website
Humanevents.com. Obama announced last week that his administration would limit deportations of illegal immigrants.
In response, the Arizona Republican governor posted an illustration Thursday depicting herself as “Rosie the Riveter,” adjacent to the slogan “Arizona . . . Doing the Job the Feds Won’t Do!” She was then notified that Facebook removed the post because it contained an illustration, contrary to the social media site’s community standards.
Facebook responded to a query from the Associated Press regarding the governor’s post by saying the removal was done in error. Facebook spokesman Andrew Noyes did not elaborate on whether the post’s removal stemmed from complaints from Facebook users.
Brewer reposted the item Friday, stating the original post was “censored” by Facebook. Both posts criticized the administration over its immigration policies; the second post remains on her Facebook page.
Brewer said she had used the illustration during her 2010 election campaign and the slogan refers to her clashes with the administration over issues of import for the border state.
The illustration is “something that’s been posted on there a lot of times,” Brewer said in an interview.
