Ezekiel Elliott, No. 1-ranked Ohio State's best running back, went on Twitter to ask pop star Taylor Swift for a date while she's in Columbus for a couple of concerts this week.
Elliott, who helped lead the Buckeyes to the national championship in January, asked Swift to go out after one of her concerts. Swift performed at Columbus's Nationwide Arena on Thursday night and will perform again on Friday night,
according to Yardbarker.com.
The Buckeyes play at Ohio Stadium against Northern Illinois on Saturday, allowing Elliott to continue his pursuit of Swift, which he did on Thursday by posting that he planned on changing his jersey number from No. 15 to No. 13 in her honor, according to
College Spun.com. The pop princess was born on Dec. 13.
That jersey number change came as news to Elliott's teammate, backup quarterback Stephen Collier, who actually wears No. 13 for Ohio State.
It appeared that Ohio State's mascot Brutus, though, beat Elliott to the punch on Thursday, according to Twitter.
Even though Taylor, 25, hasn't responded to Elliott's overtures, according to
Hollywood Life.com, he may have good timing after a report that her relationship with millionaire DJ Calvin Harris, 31, could be on the rocks.
"Taylor and her hunky DJ boyfriend have been so happy together, but Taylor's loyalty to her friends is allegedly causing a rift between her and Calvin," wrote Jason Brow of Hollywood Life.com on Wednesday. "In order for them to be together, Taylor may reportedly have to pick between her squad and her boy."
