A new line of "extreme cutout jeans" is now being marketed by a Los Angeles-based company for $168 — despite the dearth of fabric used to create them.
The jeans, manufactured by Carmar Denim, are described by the company as "a high rise pant with large statement cutouts on the front and back," according to Tampa Bay ABC affiliate WFTS.
The jeans also have a "relax fit" and sport a 10.5-inch zipper in the front.
According to Carmar Denimm the new line of trousers was designed to cater to "the free-spirited generation of today," CBS News reported.
The company posted a photo of a model wearing the jeans on Instagram, with a caption reading, "The Extreme Cut Out Pant, for those who dare to bare."
Many of the comments were less than complimentary.
"What a joke..." said one.
"Cannot think of a more obvious case of paying for the brand name only!" said another.
"You have to be a special kind of dumb to pay $168 for these," said a third.
The derision extended to Twitter.
