"Extant," the new CBS drama starring Halle Berry, is getting bumped from its 9 p.m. time slot to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays in a move the network hopes will improve the show's slipping ratings.
The Steven Spielberg-produced show began three weeks ago as the summer's top new series premiere with a 1.7 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic, but that was
down to 1.1 after last week's episode, The Wrap reported.

CBS hopes bumping "Extant," which features Berry as an astronaut who returns home pregnant from a 13-month solo mission, will have the same result as bumping "Unforgettable" and "Reckless" to later time slots. Both shows saw an improvement in total viewers after moving to 10 p.m., and "Unforgettable" also improved in the 18-49 demographic.
The vacated 9 p.m. slot will be filled by reruns of "Criminal Minds."
CBS' freshman drama can boast big stars on-screen (Halle Berry's an Oscar-winner), off-screen (Spielberg has more awards than we can count), and behind the scenes —
Malia Obama is working as a production assistant on "Extant" as her summer job.
"We're told Malia spent most of her day going on runs for coffee and drinks for the cast ... like every other no-name peon,"
a source told TMZ. "She also helped the crew by blocking people from walking through scenes during shooting. Of course, MO did get something not even Halle got — Secret Service protection. We're told a few agents were always on set, but they gave her space."
Starting this week, "Extant" will air on CBS on Wednesdays at 10 p.m.
