Eric Dossantos' wingsuit crash into a tree could've been deadly, but the 30-year-old daredevil from San Diego, California, is lucky it didn't end that way.
In September, Dossantos was wingsuit jumping in Chamonix, France, traveling 90 miles per hour when he clipped a tree and fell to the ground. He broke multiple bones including three ribs and his left shoulder blade and sustained head trauma, according to a GoFundMe page set up by friends to help Dossantos cover medical costs.
The wingsuit jumper told TOPGUNBASE he lay in the forest for three hours before he was recused.
"I thought I had died. I had no idea what I was doing there or where I was. I couldn’t remember anything after the first jump of the day, except for a faint memory that I had been jumping," he said. "I couldn’t speak French. I didn’t have my phone. I was alone and in a state of utter confusion."
According to the GoFundMe page, Dossantos is "active-duty military and does anti-terrorism security."
"Sorry to all that I haven't contacted but there's a lot of s— going on right now," he wrote on Facebook on Oct. 4. "I should have died on a wingsuit crash in France but I didn't so working on my healing from that. ... I appreciate your concerns and positive energy directed my way."
The whole wingsuit ordeal was captured on video thanks to Dossantos' helmet cam.
