Enrique Iglesias' Drone Mishap: Blades Slice His Fingers During Concert

By    |   Monday, 01 June 2015 10:03 AM EDT

Enrique Iglesias got his fingers sliced by a drone over the weekend when he attempted to grab the flying camera during a concert in Tijuana, Mexico.

Though his hand was bloody and bandaged, the Spanish pop star did not stop the concert for the 12,000 fans attendees, according to CNN.

“Another example of his professionalism,” Iglesias’ publicist Joe Bonilla said in a statement.

According to CNN, the drone is used to get video and photos of the crowd during shows.

Iglesias, 40, will often grab the drone, turning it toward himself and the audience for a “point-of-view shot,” Bonilla said.

That's exactly what he was trying to do during Saturday's “Sex and Love” world tour concert, but somehow the rotor blades hit his hand, causing him to drop the device, The Independent reported.

Adile Flores, who attended the concert, told CNN that Iglesias continued the concert even after his hand hit the drone. Eventually he left the stage, showing the crowd his injured hand. After 10 minutes, he returned with his hand wrapped in gauze.

“Something went wrong, and he had an accident,” Bonilla said. “He was semi-treated by crew on the side of the stage to try and stop the bleeding.”

According to the publicist, it was recommended that Iglesias stop the concert, but the singer refused.

The show continued for 30 minutes and, after the concert, Iglesias met with an ambulance at the airport. He then flew to Los Angeles to see a specialist, Bonilla said.

On Iglesias’ official website his team posted a note thanking fans for their “concern and well-wishes.”

“Enrique is getting the help he needs and we hope he will be totally fine,” the note read. “We will keep you posted and appreciate all your wishes and prayers.”

Fans praised Iglesias for his perseverance through his injury for their sake:
