Elon Musk has blasted "Jeopardy!" champion Ken Jennings as a "knucklehead" over a joke about the Tesla CEO being arrested. The quip came after Musk announced the reopening of the automaker's California vehicle factory despite orders to stay closed. He said that if anyone should be arrested, it should be him. Jennings agreed.
"Can't believe I'm actually agreeing with Elon Musk, but he is absolutely correct: please arrest Elon Musk," he captioned a screenshot of Musk's announcement on Twitter Monday.
Musk was quick to retaliate.
"All other car companies are allowed to manufacture *except* Tesla, you knucklehead. No wonder you got crushed by a computer the size of a pizza box," he tweeted, referencing a 2011 episode of "Jeopardy!" in which Jennings was defeated by IBM's computer program Watson.
Jennings holds the record for most “Jeopardy!” victories, most amount won on a game show and recently was crowned it’s all-time champion.
Musk's plans to reopen Tesla comes as states and cities around the U.S seek new ways to safely reopen their economies amid the coronavirus pandemic that has left millions of Americans unemployed and forced countless businesses to close down. It appears that Tesla has struck a deal with California officials to reopen its sole U.S. assembly plant as early as Monday.
Alameda County announced in a tweet posted Wednesday that an agreement had been reached and that the electric carmaker can take steps "in preparation for possible reopening as soon as next week."
The county said it would work with police in Fremont "to verify Tesla is adhering to physical distancing and that agreed upon health and safety measures are in place for the safety of their workers as they prepare for full production."
