On her show Tuesday, Ellen DeGeneres used the movie "Finding Dory" to criticize President Donald Trump's executive order temporarily banning immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

DeGeneres, who voices the forgetful Dory, pointed out that on the same weekend Trump signed the immigration ban, he watched the movie “Finding Dory” in the White House movie theater.

"I am against one of those two things," the talk show host said.

"I don't get political, so I'm not gonna talk about the travel ban," she continued. "I'm just gonna talk about the very nonpolitical, family-friendly, People’s Choice Award-winning 'Finding Dory.'"

She then made several parallels between the film and the travel ban, including Dory ending up behind a wall that attempts (but fails) to keep her out of America where her parents live.

DeGeneres emphasized the point that Dory’s friends and others help her get to her parents, “animals that don’t even need her. Animals that don’t have anything in common with her, because that’s what you do when you see someone in need — you help them.”

DeGeneres’ co-star Albert Brooks, the voice of Marlin in the movie, tweeted a similar sentiment to DeGeneres’ on Saturday, saying, “Odd that Trump is watching 'Finding Dory' today, a movie about reuniting with family when he’s preventing it in real life.”

Trump has said in repeated statements the temporary travel ban is intended to keep Americans safe from Muslim terrorists who may be posing as refugees to enter the country.
