Eddie Vedder joined other celebrity Chicago Cubs' fans at Cleveland's Progressive Field on Wednesday to watch their team win the World Series and now the Pearl Jam singer's musical tribute to the team has gone viral.
The Cubs released a one-minute video version of Vedder's tribute song "All the Way" on Facebook on Thursday and it received more than 2.3 million views in the first three hours. The video showed fans celebrating the historic win clips from the decisive game.
"I went to my first game when I was five," Vedder told USA Today after the game. "So it's been 45 years. I'm speechless. I'm a very fortunate human being, incredibly fortunate. As is all of Chicago, to see these guys."
Vedder's full song and video was released back in October with more than 213,000 views on YouTube.
Comedian Bill Murray seemed to sum up Vedder's feelings and those of many other Cubs fans when asked what winning the series meant to him.
"What does it mean? Look around," Murray told USA Today. "Look all those people out there, that tells you what it means. It means a huge weight has been lifted. All this effort into wishing and hoping that it would work, that they'd win, and now it has come true. It's wonderful. It's fantastic. You believe in something that actually came true, and it's beautiful. The whole city, all its fans — they're validated. It's OK. Dreams come true. People believed in it."
Fans shared their feelings about the championship on social media.
