Eddie Hassell, best known for his role in the 2010 film "The Kids Are All Right," has died at age 30. The actor was shot in an apparent carjacking incident and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital on Sunday, the Grand Prairie, Texas, Police Department confirmed.
"On Sunday, November 1, 2020, at around 1:50 a.m., Grand Prairie Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of West Bardin Road. Upon arrival, officers located victim Eddie Hassell, 30, of Waco, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," the department wrote in a statement posted to Twitter.
"Officers rendered first aid to the victim and he was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased," the statement continued. "The motive is still under investigation but detectives can confirm a car was taken from the scene and later recovered."
Hassell's girlfriend took to social media to mourn the star's death.
"You were dearer to me than all the bats in all the caves in the world, @eddie_hassell. I loved you more than the sky in Texas," she captioned a series of photos of the couple together. "You made me more mad than anyone I've ever met, and I loved every ounce of you for it. Rest In Peace. You'll always have my heart."
In addition to his role in "The Kids Are All Right," Hassell appeared in the NBC mystery drama "Surface," as well as various shows including "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" "Til Death," "Southland," "Bones," and "Devious Maids," according to Variety. Furthermore, he appeared in films such as "2012," "Jobs," "House of Dust," and "Bomb City."
