The Epiphany Prize winners for Most Inspired Movie and TV Program of 2016 will be announced during a telecast Easter Sunday at 5 p.m. Eastern time (2 p.m. Pacific) on ReelzChannel.
The television special will show scenes from the Red Carpet at Movieguide’s 25th Annual Faith & Values Awards, which took place in February.
Movieguide has been providing movie reviews to families and encouraging Hollywood to make more uplifting, wholesome movies for 32 years.
The Christian Film & Television Commission and Movieguide are the longest-running international, nonprofit ministries in existence, seeking to redeem “the values of the entertainment industry by influencing industry executives and by informing and equipping the public about the influence of the entertainment media,” according to a news release.
“Movies make a profound influence in our lives. They can stir our imaginations and stimulate our minds. They can bring us laughter, tears, joy ... the whole range of emotion. They can arouse our compassion, spur us toward love, inspire our lives, or incite us toward action, and even hatred and violence,” said Movieguide chairman Dr. Ted Baehr in a statement.
The TV special will feature clips from nominated movies and interviews with actors, writers, and directors. “We hope this TV special will enable viewers to develop a strategy for their movie and television viewing that will help them live an inspired, abundant life,” Baehr said.
Nominated movies include the 2016 remake of “Ben-Hur,” “God’s Not Dead 2, “ “Hacksaw Ridge,” and “Miracles From Heaven.” TV show nominations include several episodes of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “The Bridge Part 2,” and “Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love.”
