The Philadelphia Eagles are talking about going back to Kelly green uniforms following a fan petition last year, when the Eagles hired Chip Kelly as coach, seeking a return to the brighter green color.
Don Smolenski, Eagles president,
told the 94WIP Morning Show Wednesday that the team and the NFL are considering the Kelly green change.

“We have talked about it and there are some rules with the NFL that provides some restrictions that we’re trying to work through, but that’s going to take some time,” Smolenski told Angelo Cataldi on the Morning Show. “It’s there, and it’s something that we do talk about, but until some things change at the NFL level it’s going to provide restrictions for us. It is being talked about it, yes.”
At least on Twitter, the overwhelming vote seems to be to leave behind the current "midnight green" uniforms and re-embrace the Kelly green.
One tweet even asked for votes — a retweet meant yes, return to the Kelly green, while a favorite on the tweet was a vote against. The tweet was posted Wednesday by @SportsArePhilly and 21 hours later had 1,400 retweets and only 221 favorites.
Meanwhile, Kelly is focused on getting the team ready for the pre-season opener Friday in Chicago against the Bears.
This week,
Kelly told Philly.com his thoughts on the team’s depth chart, which the NFL requires before preseason games.
“Seriously, the depth chart, I don't care. I think [Eagles PR Director] Derek [Boyko] did it. I mean, it's absolutely nothing,” Kelly told Philly.com. “I know we're going to get questions on it, and I'll be honest with you, I do not care how that's listed, added. I said a long time ago, it's written in sand, it's written in water, it can be written in anything. That depth chart means absolutely nothing. The only reason we make one is because they tell us to make one.”
