A dream dress surprise has swept the internet by storm after video footage recently emerged showing a heartfelt moment between an astounded Pittsburgh teen and her hardworking father who took on extra shifts to buy his daughter the glamorous ensemble.
Ricky Smith was torn when his 14-year-old daughter asked him if their family could afford to fork out $200 for a dress she had found to wear to her eighth-grade dance in June, ABC News reported.
"I said, 'Mom, dad, I want this dress. Is it in our price range?'" said Nevaeha Smith, a recent graduate of Ringgold Middle School in Monongahela, Pennsylvania.
Her 36-year-old dad was already working three jobs to make ends meet but he was determined to at least try and make his daughter's dream a reality.
He took on extra shifts at his jobs at McDonald’s, Popeye’s, and the Circle K convenience store, and managed to earn enough to buy the dress, which he surprised his daughter with recently.
The moment was captured on video that has been widely shared on social media.
In the footage, which was uploaded by Style Exchange Boutique, Nevaeha Smith looks astonished as her father brings out the dress.
She then jumps into her father's arms and clings to him as tears stream down her face.
"I'm grateful that he found a way to get me the dress and I really appreciate how many jobs he worked," the girl told "CBS This Morning" in an interview.
"My heart felt like there was more love in it than there was before," she added, according to ABC News. "I love him and I’m really happy that’s he’s my father."
