Drake made a surprise visit to Miami Senior High School on Monday, where the Grammy Award-winning rapper shot his latest video to the song "God's Plan" and presented the school with a $25,000 check, according to the Miami Herald.
The entertainer performed on a crane above the school's baseball field while shooting the video, the Herald reported. A drone flew overhead to record the concert while students captured the moment on their smartphones.
"The next thing you know, you got the crowd of students and a couple of alumni going crazy when he got the music playing while recording," Miami Senior High alumnus Edgar Grant Santiago said in a message after going to the school to see the performer. "It was amazing and unexpected. Where can you say you got Drake to go your school? At Miami Senior High that's where. That was truly God’s plan to bless the school."
WPLG-TV-TV said Drake left the high school students with a positive message, saying, "I hope you go on to do incredible things."
Drake, whose full name is Aubrey Drake Graham, also visited the University of Miami where he awarded biology student Destiny James with a $50,000 scholarship outside the Frost School of Music, according to the university's student newspaper The Miami Hurricane.
He then performed for a crowd at the Donna E. Shalala Student Center, The Miami Hurricane said.
Students and staff shared their videos and pictures on social media.
