A "Double Dare" revival will bring 40 new episodes of the classic 1980s and ‘90s game show back to Nickelodeon this summer, the network announced Wednesday.
The show, which ran from 1986 to 1993, featured two teams of kids who would compete in trivia and physical challenges as well as an obstacle course that always featured the signature Nickelodeon green slime.
Variations including “Family Double Dare” and “Super Slimy Double Dare” helped to diversify the concept during the series’ original run.
The revival will bring back many of these elements along with some previous contestants, but original host Marc Summers will not return and a new emcee will soon be named, EW reported.
The show spent a season in 1988 on Fox before returning to Nickelodeon, and a revival hosted by Jason Harris, “Double Dare 2000,” also aired on the kids’ network that year.
A 30th anniversary reunion special aired in 2016 and a live edition was held at San Diego Comic-Con that year."
There were plenty of nostalgic 30-somethings tweeting about the return of "Double Dare."
