Actor and musician Donnie Wahlberg left a generous $2,000 tip for the waitstaff at a Charlotte, North Carolina, Waffle House in appreciation for their great service Wednesday night and later posted a photo of the receipt and himself with the staff on social media.
“My mom waited tables, and my dad tended bars— for years,” Wahlberg wrote on Facebook and Instagram. “ So when I walk into a #WaffleHouse and the staff treats me like a king, you better believe I treat them like queens!”
Wahlberg was in town late Wednesday after a day of shooting his TV show “BlueBloods” and in preparation for a concert Thursday night with New Kids on the Block. His bill was $82.60 before the tip.
He also gave concert tickets and backstage passes to a fan of “BlueBloods” and made a Facebook Live video of his conversation with her. Both posts went viral with over 100,000 combined reactions and thousands of shares and comments.
One commenter said he saw Wahlberg give all the workers front row tickets and backstage passes for the concert.
Twitter got in on the lovefest as well, praising Wahlberg for having a big heart and for his generosity.
