Country legend Dolly Parton says the coronavirus pandemic is a lesson from God and is urging fans to keep their faith. "God is in this" and "it's going to be alright,." the country legend shared in an uplifting video posted to Instagram.
Standing in front of her stairway, in the video Parton bursts into song.
"Well hello! It's Dolly. Climbing the stairway to heaven 'cause this virus has scared the H-E-L-L out of us," she sings before breaking out into a giggle. Then Parton turns serious.
"I'm not making light out of the situation. Well, maybe I am because it's the light, I believe, that's going to dissolve the situation. I think God is in this, I really do," Parton says, adding that she believes God has a positive lesson of love and acceptance to be learned.
"I think he's trying to hold us up to the light so we can see ourselves and see each other through the eyes of love, and I hope we learn that lesson. I think that when this passes we're all gonna be better people," she continues, urging fans to "just keep the faith" and not be afraid. "It's going to be alright. God loves us."
Followers were full of appreciation for Parton's message of light.
"You are the queen of positivity. THE WORLD NEEDS YOU," one fan replied, urging Parton to "be safe."
Another follower thanked her for "being a light in the darkness!!" while another said he would definitely be "keeping the faith!"
Parton has maintained her own faith throughout the pandemic as well as through the loss of her friend and fellow musician Kenny Rogers, who passed away last Friday at age 81.
"I know that we all know that Kenny is in a better place than we are today and I'm pretty sure that he's going to be talking to God sometime today," she says in a video shared to Twitter, "and he's going to be asking him to spread some light on a bunch of this darkness."
