A Disneyland power outage hit during the busy holiday season, when the California Park was at full capacity.
The power went out at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday after one of the property's transformers malfunctioned, stopping about a dozen rides in Toontown and Fantasyland, a spokesperson said per The Los Angeles Times.
Guests had to be escorted from the rides and the park resorted to turning away new guests and only accepting re-entries into the premises.
"Our family drove 700 miles to be here today, Im sure a lot of other people did too," one Twitter user commented on the park's announcement.
"Absolute ridiculousness at @Disneyland today," another person said on Twitter. "Awful. Worst experience here. You should never have filled the park to capacity with 1/2 the park closed."
Power was restored to a majority of the rides by 4 p.m., according to the Times, but no refunds were expected to be offered.
Geoff Fienberg, who was on the "It's a Small World" ride when the outage happened, told CNN that he was about 60 percent to 70 percent of the way through the ride when the power went off. He said guests sat for about 25 minutes in the dark before they were escorted off.
He said there was no danger or any real commotion, it was "just dark, music was still playing, so that will be in most of our heads probably for the following year."
Just prior to the power outage, Disneyland tweeted:
"Why not relax and join us for a vacation to a galaxy far, far away. What's the worst that could happen? Park Hours: Disneyland 8am-12am & Disney California Adventure 8am-11pm."
