There is a sense of wonder surrounding Disney World and adding to its mystique are these 10 secrets that you probably didn't know about, as listed by Cosmopolitan:
1. The screams at the Tower of Terror are fake
The screams of terror you hear from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror may sound real but you are not actually hearing them from people on the ride who are scared out of their wits. The screams are actually pre-recorded and being blasted from speakers.
2. There are no bathrooms at Liberty Square
If you are strolling through Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square and need to make a pit stop you are out of luck. The only bathrooms are in other lands, so you will have to take a bit of a walk.
3. There are two hidden time capsules
Next time you are in the park, see if you can find one hidden capsule buried in 1995 in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle, and another located underneath Buena Vista Plaza in California Adventure, where it has been since 2012.
4. There are Imagineers’ faces on the ceiling of a restaurant
If you happen to be dining at Walt Disney World’s Be Our Guest restaurant, make sure you take a look up at the ceiling in the ballroom. You will see cherubs with the faces of the Imagineers’ children and babies.
5. The Disney Flags are fake
The flags you see on Main Street are not authentic. They are missing stars or stripes which means that the park does not have to comply with flag regulations and can keep them up permanently.
6. The flags have another purpose
In addition to being fake, the flags on Main Street also happen to be lightning rods
7. Mickey Mouse's ears also have a hidden purpose
The flags are not the only things in Disney World that have a dual purpose. One of Mickey's ears is copper and serves as a lightning rod.
8. The castles are optical illusions
Disney engineers wanted to make the castles appear bigger than what they were so they came up with a crafty plan- build castles with bricks that get smaller towards the top. As a result, Cinderella’s castle and Beast’s castle are both optical illusions.
9. Disney has secret menu items
Disney has secret menus that will at the very least leave you intrigued. You can get ice cream nachos at Frontierland’s Golden Horseshoe, loaded tater tots at River Belle Terrace and a mac ’n’ cheese bread bowl at the Wharf Cafe in California Adventure.
10. Dinosaur and Indiana Jones are the same
Say it isn't so. This whole time we believed that Animal Kingdom’s Dinosaur and Disneyland’s Indiana Jones Adventure are separate rides but it turns out they both use the same track.
