Dick Van Dyke's Disorder Is 'Neurological' But Not Yet Diagnosed

Legendary actor Dick Van Dyke was forced to cancel an appearance in New York next week because he's suffering fatigue and other symptoms associated with a "yet-to-be diagnosed neurological disorder," according to his rep.

Van Dyke, 87, best known for his roles in "Mary Poppins," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," and his namesake TV series, will not be able to attend the event in New York on April 26 because his doctor has advised him not to travel far from his home in Malibu, Calif. He was scheduled to be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for Bettering Humanity through Comedy from Manhattan's 92nd Street Y.

Van Dyke has reportedly been struggling with various symptoms, including fatigue, but doctors haven't figured out what's wrong with him yet.

"Tests and scans have yet to reveal a specific diagnosis. Various medications have not diminished the symptoms," Bob Plamer, Van Dyke's rep, told USA Today. But thanks to the star's "strong constitution and years on a daily fitness regimen, Dick is otherwise in good physical condition but the fatigue factor has become acute. Until there is a specific diagnosis and treatment plan he is advised against travel by flight and is resting at home in Malibu."

Van Dyke recently tweeted about headaches he has been experiencing, asking his followers if they had any idea what might be wrong with him.

Suggestions included ear problems, sinus issues, allergies, acid reflux, and more.

Van Dyke is an Emmy, Grammy, and Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award winner, and has been acting, directing, singing, and dancing for more than seven decades.
