Dick Cheney's forthcoming book co-authored with daughter Liz takes aim at President Barack Obama's foreign policy — or lack thereof.
"Exceptional: Why the World Needs a Powerful America," is available for pre-order and hits shelves Sept. 1,
according to The Associated Press.
"Unfortunately, as we face the clear and present danger of a rapidly growing terrorist threat, President Obama has significantly diminished our power, abandoned America's allies and emboldened our enemies," the former vice president said in a statement issued by his publisher, Threshold Editions.
Threshold is an imprint of the Simon & Schuster publishing house, which is owned by CBS Corp.
Dick and Liz Cheney's new book is likely to echo sentiments expressed in a joint op-ed for The Wall Street Journal penned last summer, wherein they lamented "the collapsing Obama doctrine."
"Despite clear evidence of the dire need for American leadership around the world, the desperation of our allies and the glee of our enemies, President Obama seems determined to leave office ensuring he has taken America down a notch," they wrote at the time.
In a more recent March
interview with Playboy magazine, Dick Cheney said, "I look at Barack Obama and I see the worst president in my lifetime, without question — and that's saying something."
Cheney's previous books include the memoir "In My Time" and "Heart."
