Destiny's Child Reunion Wows Gospel Music Awards Audience

Destiny's Child, including lead singer Beyoncé Knowles, had a brief reunion at the Stellar Gospel Music Awards in Las Vegas while former member Michelle Williams was picking up an award during the show.

Williams had captured the music video of the year honors for her song "Say Yes," which featured vocals from her former bandmates Knowles and Kelly Rowland. She started the performance solo before Knowles and Rowland appeared on stage to join her to the delight of fans, according to CNN.

"Williams' single, released last May, features Beyoncé and Rowland, but neither Williams nor Destiny's Child was scheduled to appear at the Stellar Awards – making their performance a genuinely delightful shock to everyone involved," wrote Katie Calautti, of MTV.

"The ceremony won't air until April 5, but crowd-sourced pieces of the concert are all over Instagram – and as expected, their performance was nothing less than…well…stellar," said Calautti.

"Finally I can say something," wrote musician Ronnie Robertson, according to Us Weekly. "Rumors were true! Destiny's Child was in the building #StellarAwards."

TMZ reported that it was the first time the trio performed in public since Knowles was the headliner at the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans.

CNN reported that TV One will air the awards show on April 5, which will likely include the performance. The song "Say Yes" is from Williams' gospel album "Journey to Freedom."

The Hollywood Reporter wrote last June that the recording of the song and video happened by accident. The publication wrote that Knowles and Rowland received an advanced copy of Williams' song.

"There has to be a Destiny's Child mix of the song,'" Williams told The Hollywood Reporter. "Kelly did it and Beyoncé got right in the studio and did her part. I kept it a secret because I didn't want anyone to know until it was time."

Williams told the publication teaming up with Knowles and Rowland seems like old times.

"It was so much fun," she told The Hollywood Reporter "It was like we were little kids again. I have their back and they have mine. They have showed themselves to be loyal to me time after time. They have proven they are my sisters time and time again."
