Dennis Rodman has invited Michael Strahan to join him on his next visit to North Korea, according to a report by the New York Post's Page Six.
Fresh off a trip to Pyongyang for a visit with his "friend for life" Kim Jong Un, Rodman sat down with "Good Morning America" host and former NFL star Strahan on Friday, and the two discussed Rodman's latest visit to the controversial country.
During the talk, Rodman appeared to take some credit for the release of Otto Warmbier, the American college student who was held for 15 months in North Korea after being sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for allegedly stealing a propoganda poster. He was in a coma when released and later died on June 19. His family and the State Department have denied that Rodman played a role in his release.
"I was just so happy to see the kid released . . . Later that day, that's when we found out he was ill, no one knew that. We jumped up and down . . . Some good things came of this trip," Rodman told Strahan.
Now, according to Page Six, Rodman has extended an invitation for Strahan to join him on a planned trip back to North Korea in August.
“He very aggressively pushed Michael to join him on the trip. He told him it’s just like every other country,” an insider told the newspaper.
In the "GMA" interview, Strahan asked Rodman about the backlash he's received for visiting a country that has made nuclear threats toward the U.S.
"I'm going over there out of the kindness of my heart just to try to help," Rodman said, breaking down.
It's not clear whether Strahan will take Rodman up on his invitation.
