Daniel Tosh: ESPN Stole My 'Web Redemption' Segment, Comedian Says

By    |   Wednesday, 12 November 2014 06:39 PM EST

Comedian Daniel Tosh slammed ESPN for a new segment he says is similar to his weekly Web Redemption bit on his Comedy Central show "Tosh.0."

"Did ESPN really think I wouldn’t notice when they came up with an eerily familiar new segment called Awesome Video Segment?" Tosh exclaimed during Tuesday’s episode of "Tosh.0."

Story continues below video.

The ESPN segment focuses on a singing ice skater who falls. The ESPN host then asks the skater, “Do you think you would be willing to give it another shot?”

Tosh quipped, “They must have missed that one episode where I said that before,” before showing a compilation of clips of Tosh asking Web Redemption guests, “Are you ready to give it another shot?”

In retaliation, Tosh said, he created a new segment called Sports Science.0.

ESPN isn’t backing down.

"This was more of an instance of us using a common phrase than it was copying his wording," ESPN said in a statement, according to The Los Angeles Times. "We know that doesn't sound like the strongest explanation yet it’s the truth. We are looking forward to ‘giving it another shot’ in future installments of 'The Awesome Video Segment.'"

Twitter users cheered Tosh.
