Danica Patrick netted a new sponsor on Tuesday in fig bar manufacturer Nature's Bakery.
According to ESPN, the new contract means Patrick will stay on the Stewart-Haas Racing team — the only team she's represented during her Sprint Cup career. Her future with the team was unclear after longtime sponsor GoDaddy announced in April it was ending its contract with Patrick.
"I feel like our brands align so perfectly, it's kind of amazing," said Patrick of Nature's Bakery. "I think that journey is going to be really fun. I think there's going to be lots of exciting things that we can do together in the future.
"On top of that, being able to re-sign with Tony and here at Stewart‑Haas is very important to me. I really, really do feel like family here. I feel like there's nowhere else I want to be."
According to USA Today, Nature's Bakery is a relatively small company that was started in 2010. It boasts 400 employees, and its food bars can be found in all 50 states and 22 countries.
"We have a very strategic plan to grow the business substantially over the next five years," said co-founder Dave Marson.
"We’re not as small as you think," Marson said. "We’re a global brand. We produced over 600 million fig bars this year, so we’re big enough to handle it."
Marson explained that the deal came about because Nature's Bakery buys machine tools from Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner Gene Haas' company. He went on to say he and his son, Sam, are big racing fans.
Four paint schemes have been approved for Patrick's racecar.
Of the new, light-blue look, Patrick commented, "I think it's going to stand out, which is important. More importantly, it's going to look great against my skin tone."
