A cow ran loose in Brooklyn Tuesday morning, trampling a 1-year-old girl and getting hit by a car before being trapped in the Prospect Park parade grounds by police who then awaited animal control.

Investigators think the cow — actually a young bull — escaped from a slaughterhouse a few miles away and ran to the park, the New York Daily News reported. A crowd of people gathered to take pictures of the animal after police trapped it in a fenced area of the park.

The girl who was trampled suffered a black eye and split lip, and was taken to the hospital for treatment, the Daily News reported. The cow was then clipped by a car before running into the park. It did not appear to be seriously hurt.

At least two other cows were found running through New York since the beginning of 2016. A bull that broke free in February died before it could be taken to an animal sanctuary, and in April 2016, an escaped cow was taken to the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, New York by former "Daily Show" host and comedian Jon Stewart.

This time, animal control officials tranquilized the cow and took it away to an unknown location, ABC7 reported. No word was given about how the cow got loose, or what would happen to it after capture.

Twitter users joked about the loose cow and enjoyed the levity of the story.
