Corpus Christi teen Joe Moreno has always knew who his date to senior prom was going to be — his mom.

Eighteen years ago Vanessa Moreno had to miss out on her big night because she was busy caring for her son, mySanAntonio.com reported.

When the chance arose for Joe Mereno to make it up to her, he did not hesitate to ask his mom to prom.

"My mom had me at the age of 17 she dropped out of high school to focus on giving me her all," the Collegiate High School senior posted in a tweet that has since gone viral.

Vanessa Moreno told KRIS-TV that her son first mentioned wanting to take her to prom while he was in middle school, but she did not think much of it.

When senior year came, Joe Moreno had not changed his mind and she agreed to be his prom date.

"We danced and danced... it was great," Vanessa Moreno said of the night.

She added that sometimes a mother's sacrifices went unnoticed.

"We just hope that it does get seen, and I am so glad my son did see my sacrifice and wanted to give back. It meant the world to me," she said, according to The New York Post.

Joe Moreno said taking his mother to prom was a small gesture.

"This is something that will last in her memory forever," he said, per The New York Post. "It really means so much [to me] to give that opportunity to her."
